Sdn. Matthew Romero
Matthew is the Subdeacon at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church. He was born in Midvale, Utah and was raised in the Salt Lake City area. He was baptized at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church as a child where he was active as an altar boy and in the Spanish Choir. He graduated High School in 1990, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Spanish from the University of Utah in 1997. He later attended University of Notre Dame and received a Master of Business Administration. He moved to Boise Idaho in 2001. Matthew and his wife Natalia are blessed with four children; Yzabella, Amalia, Lucas, and Kassiani.
Matthew and his family were received into the Orthodox Church in 2004 at The Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Mission Church. He has served as an acolyte, chanter, Parish Council Chairman, and is currently the Treasurer of Parish Council. Matthew has taught Church School, visited the local prisons to pray and teach the faith, and assists Father Mark in teaching classes. Matthew became Subdeacon in 2010 by Metropolitan Joseph. He loves serving Christ and his Church as a Subdeacon. He completed the Saint Stephen’s Course of Studies in Orthodox Theology in 2013 and looks forward to continuing his theological education.
